Una de las cosas que más echo de menos desde que las elecciones cambiaran el mandato del Ayuntamiento de Madrid, es el diseño moderno y elegante de la cartelería de Madrid. Pero me han hecho inmensamente feliz porque han creado un repositorio de descarga de carteles de Madrid, para imprimir mis favoritos y colgarlos en mi estudio.
Las ciudades también tienen una identidad visual, que viene dada por sus edificios, sus iconos, y también por la imagen visual usada en sus carteles. Creo que durante esa época, Madrid modernizó su imagen y se hizo mucho más atractiva para el turismo.
Es algo que hasta el momento no se le había dado importancia, pero se ha visto que importa y mucho.
Durante el mandato de la Alcaldesa Manuela Carmena (del 2015 al 2019) cada evento o fiesta tenia asociado un cartel creado por un profesional diferente del diseño gráfico o de la ilustración. Por lo que casi podemos decir que nos encontrábamos ante obras de arte que podíamos admirar.
Recuerdo caminar por Madrid, y parar sólo para hacer la foto al cartel que me había llamado la atención. Imagino que lo mismo les habrá ocurrido a los miles de turistas que año tras año visitan nuestra ciudad. Y es que estos carteles no pasaban desapercibidos.
Tipografía chulapa
Tanto se cuidaba la estética, que se creó hasta una tipografía típica de Madrid, la tipografía Chulapa, y la pusieron a disposición del publico. De esta forma hicieron historia con un tipo de letra con aires castizos y que nació precisamente de la cartelería que se presentó para las fiestas de San Isidro de 2018.

El diseño de los carteles era elegido mediante un jurado profesional, que elegía en función de la calidad estética del ilustrador o diseñador. Esta ha sido la razón fundamental del éxito de estos carteles y del cambio que dió la imagen de la ciudad de Madrid.
Ahora, para despedirse, han decidido crear un repositorio para facilitar la descarga de carteles del Ayuntamiento de Madrid y que han adornado las calles de nuestra ciudad desde 2015 a 2019, de forma que han creado un espacio para recorrer “parte de la historia de Madrid y puedas descargarla, imprimirla, conservarla o compartirla.“
